Miller Papers, University of Louisville University Archives and Records Center. Robert H. Miller was born in Defiance, Ohio, in 1938. He earned a B.A. and M.A. in English from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1968. He taught at Michigan Technological University and at Ohio State University between 1961 and 1968, coming to the English Department at the University of Louisville in 1968. Before retiring in 2004, Miller served at various times as Director of Undergraduate Studies, Director of Graduate Studies, Chair of English Department, and Chair of the Division of Humanities. His academic publications include books and articles on the works of Sir John Harington, Graham Greene, Raymond Chandler, Ernest Hemingway, H.L. Mencken, Dashiell Hammett, and Tom Robbins, as well as on research methodology. He is also a published poet and author of an autobiography published in 2004, Deaf Hearing Boy . This 4.75 linear foot collection contains student work from Miller's graduate education, literary production, correspondence, general teaching and research notes and files and Miller's research notes and files on Graham Greene. The collection is thus divided into five series: I: Student work; II: Literary output; III: General Research and Teaching Files; IV: Correspondence and V: Graham Greene Files. Some materials are restricted. Series V is housed with other Graham Greene materials in Ekstrom Library's Special Collections: Rare Books.
