ARMY OFFICERS AFTER STALLION New York January 17 When the New York State Breeding Bureau was established by the Jockey Club and many selected thoroughbred stallions wore placed throughout the State of New York for the use of the farmers much was said and written of what the work would do for the improvement of the breed of horses Already the bureau has done a great deal of lasting good but it was only yesterday that a new appreciation was shown of its work workA A letter was received by Algernon Daingerfleld re ¬ questing the Jockey Club if possible to place a bu ¬ reau stallion where it would be available to Fort Ethan Allan The letter came from Captain and Adjutant Charles T Boyd and the request was that as Fort Ethan Allan was just across Lake Cham plain It would be greatly appreciated if one of the bureau thoroughbreds would be placed where service could be bad for the thoroughbred mares at the fort fortAt At present the stallion that is standing in the nearest proximity to Fort Ethan Allan is Ladsarioii at Keesville which is in the same county as Platt Imrg which would Ite the natural location for a stal ¬ lion for use of the officers of Fort Ethan Allah AllahSecretary Secretary DaingcrnVld in reply to Captain Boyds letter said that it would afford the breeding bureau pleasure to place a stallion where he could be made use of by the officers and just as soon as changes are PlattsburgIt possible one would be detailed to Plattsburg It has been repeatedly shown that the thorough ¬ bred is the base of all that is best in horses for any and every use but it is particularly so of the cav ¬ alry There is not a cavalry post at which the best of the mounts are not either thoroughbreds or have a large percentage of thoroughbred blood in their veins At Fort Ethan Allan there are a number of thoroughbred u tares and the location of a stallion in that vicinity would mean much to the service Holmdel To Go Under Hammer.
