The written terms of a May 1841 duel between C.M. Clay & Robert Wickliffe, Jr., at Locust Grove, in Louisville. Dueling was used, between gentlemen only, to resolve disagreements. Clay was renowned for his dueling & fighting, with a preference for knives, particularly the bowie knife (though these terms specify pistols). May 1841
