One letter, dated "Hopkins County Madisonville 15th of August 1813," written by William R. McGary to Governor Isaac Shelby reponding to his call for Kentucky men to fight in the War of 1812. McGary's response is personally supportive but non-commital about how many other Hopkins County men would fight.
