Owens served as an officer with the 12th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. Letters and documents collected by the Owens family. His letters home tell of the Confederate destruction after their retreat from Nashville and fighting near Corinth (Miss.). Includes his petition to run for election as state representative from Pulaski County (Ky.). Card file in repository
