  • Lexington Public Library‚Äôs Kentucky Room is a special collection and a reading room that houses the library's state and local history and genealogy collections. Located on the third floor of the Central Library, the Kentucky Room contains a wealth of information about Kentucky and Fayette County. The collection features books on all aspects of Kentucky, subject files on Kentucky and Lexington, county histories, family histories, local newspapers, maps, and state and local government documents. Additionally, the Kentucky Room contains many items of interest to genealogists, especially those researching Central Kentucky families. The mission of the Lexington Public Library and the Kentucky Room is to connect people, inspire ideas, and transforms lives. Our vision is a community engaged in a lifetime of discovery.
