Administration of student admissions and the recording of scholastic records has at various times been the responsibility of the Transylvania University Registrar, Recorder, and Dean or Director of Admissions.

Scope and Content

Materials are comprised of student directories, enrollment lists, class schedules, and fragmentary correspondence from the Transylvania University Office of Admissions. Records include class rolls, rosters, and student directories (1920-1990); class schedules (1930-1994); correspondence and statistical reports from the admissions office or the registrar (1920-1980); and course announcements and recruiting publications (1910-1987). The records of the registrar also include documentation of two aviation training programs associated with Transylvania during World War II. These were the Civil Aeronautics Ground School, which trained civilian pilots, and the 322nd College Training Detachment of the United States Army Air Corps which trained military personnel from 1943 to 1946. Transcripts, class rolls, and general information about the programs and Transylvania during the war are included. Also present is a large card file, apparently compiled by the registrar, which lists students by name, and includes the years they attended the university and the address where they resided at the time they applied for admission. The information, which dates from the 1860s through the 1970s, was probably extracted from student transcripts. During much of this period the school was known as Kentucky University.
