Hugh Mulholland, a merchant in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was the son-in-law of Major James Crutcher, local politician and proprietor of the ""Sign of the Lion"" tavern.
The Mulholland ledger, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is the business account book for a general store owned by Hugh Mulholland. It documents the store's transactions by family surnames; entries date from October 1842-January 1843. Notable people in the ledger include Governor John L. Helm (1850-1851); Judge A. H. Churchill; Judge John Churchill; Robert English, state representative and sheriff; Samuel Haycraft, Hardin county clerk; and members of the Wintersmith and Bush families.
