The Transylvania University Library currently holds more than 100,000 volumes. In addition to collections designed to support the university's basic academic programs, the library houses a special collections containing late eighteenth century and nineteenth century books and manuscript holdings.
These are the records of the Transylvania University Library including correspondence, reports, self-studies, fiscal documentation, book catalogs, and a variety of other records. There is information on the history and development of the library, on building construction, administration, collection development, and other subjects. Also included is information on the medical and law libraries which once served the university. Significant documentation of the tenure of librarians Elizabeth Norton (1914-1943) and Roemol Henry (1943-1978), and special collections curator Thomas J. MacMorran (1978-1980) is present. The entire collection dates back to the earliest years of the school including the periods when it was known as Transylvania Seminary and Kentucky University. Unpublished catalog of holdings.
