This collection of negatives contains scenes from about two dozen Kentucky towns, principally Berea, Lexington, Middlesboro, and Richmond. A few images are dated 1906, 1920 1922, 1932, and 1942, although the greatest number of them would appear to be from the 1920's. The negatives represent the work of several phtographers, including: James M. Wilson (Bardstown), W. F. Monfort (Bardstown), R. L. Hill (Campbellsville), Edwin H. Willis (Cynthiana), Riley Studio (London), Caufield & Shook of Louisville, and the Art Store, Edwin S. Wells Co., of Cynthiana. Many of the negatives are copied from prints. Some may have been made to produce postcards. There are 583 nitrate negatives rangin in size from 4 X 6 inches to 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches.
