Biography/History

Governor James D. Black served in office only briefly in 1919. Originally from Knox County, KY, Black remained a resident of that county. His occupation was a Teacher and a Lawyer. Jame D. Black succeeded to office upon the resignation of Stanley, serving only seven months. Black was defeated in his own race for Governor in November, 1919.
