Robert Allen was a Union soldier from Ohio. Correspondence from Allen a Union soldier, back to his family in Ohio as he moves through Va. and Tenn. and later spends time in a Covington, Ky. hospital; he discusses soldier's life, casualties, repairing railroad lines, and leaders such as Generals Jacob Cox and Ebenezer Dumont; an undated letter from Rev.
