Inventor, Machinist. A noted inventor, Barlow was born in Nicholas County, Kentucky. He carried out work, together with his son, Milton K. in Lexington, Ky, which resulted in several inventions, and died in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1985.
The collection is comprised of material gathered by Dwight Lawrence Mikkelson during research for the M. A. degree in history at the University of Kentucky. A large portion of the papers consist of Mikkelson's correspondence with university libraries, planetariums, and Barlow family members to document the inventor's activities. Also present are photocopies of Barlow's patent applications and two photographs.
