Scope and Content

This includes manuscript papers, correspondence, and miscellaneous reports relating to Southern Appalachian Studies research in folk arts and handicrafts.

Included are drafts of papers by researchers Bernice A. Stevens, Frank H. Smith, and Rupert B. Vance, each of whom wrote chapters for THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION: A SURVEY. Manuscripts of Vernon H. Taylor, who conducted research on Appalachian folk music, are also present. Correspondence relevant to particular research projects is also present.
