Scope and Content

Letter to James Taylor, son of General James Taylor of Newport (Ky.), written by Spencer R. Hughey for William P. Hughey to inform him that he was empowered by General Taylor to bring a suit against Col. Joseph Barbour, a saw mill owner, for trespassing on his land. Joseph R. Underwood also filed suit. Letter also describes a dispute between Hughey and a Mr. Cooksey over a ferry leased to Hughey by General Taylor. Card file in repository
