Biography/History

The ferry, and associated property, was originally held by James Wilkinson through an act of the Virginia Legislature and by a purchase of lands from Humphrey Marshall.

Scope and Content

This indenture, dated October 13, 1800, transferred ownership of the ferry on the Kentucky River at Frankfort to John Brown. The document was recorded and signed by the Franklin County clerk, Daniel Weisiger.
