Wear was actively involved in the Berea College Rural School Improvement Project during the 1950s and served as its project director from 1955 through the mid 1960s. He also became involved with Project Opportunity programs in 1966 and was an administrator at Knapp Hall, a Berea College-run elementary school which was merged with the Berea Independent School System in 1966.

Scope and Content

Materials consist of subject files of Pat W. Wear, professor of education at Berea College from 1950 to 1980.

Subject files are comprised chiefly of correspondence, reports, and financial records relating to Wear's administration or involvement in Rural School Improvement and Project Opportunity programs and in the merger of Knapp Hall with the Berea School System. Extensive correspondence with other Berea College administrators, with state education officials, and with representatives of funding agencies is present.
