Biography/History
Governor Wendell H. Ford served in office from 1971-1974 as a Democratic Party affiliate. Originally from Daviess County, Ford continued to reside in that county. His occupation was a Businessman. Governor Ford successfully advocated the reorganization of state government, the passage of a severance tax on coal, and the creation of an environmental protection agency. Ford also strongly supported the Equal Rights Amendment. Governor Wendell H. Ford resigned office, upon winning election to the U.S. Senate.
