Scope and Content
Union soldier. Diary records Phillip's everyday experiences in the 41st Ohio Infantry Regiment. While never seeing action himself, he observes its effects and results in West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio. As bandleader, he describes problems within the band, and its duties, such as stretcher bearer training. Diary also includes a list of provisions bought, and other band expenses.
