This volume includes the charter, constitution, membership and fee lists, and American Medical Association (AMA) code of ethics of this organization, founded in 1838 and reorganized in 1858. Many prominent Louisville Medical Institute and University of Louisville Medical Department faculty were founders and active members, including George W. Bayless, Charles Caldwell, John Esten Cooke, Henry Miller, Lewis Rogers, and Lunsford P. Yandell.
