Biography/History
Governor John W. Stevenson served in office from 1867-1871 as a Democratic Party affiliate. Originally from Virginia, Stevenson resided in Kenton County, KY. His occupation was Lawyer. Stevenson succeeded to office upon the death of Governor Helm, facing post-war issues of civil rights and violence. John W. Stevenson resigned as Governor in 1871 to become a U.S. Senator.
