Biography/History

The agency was independently incorporated in May, 1966 and separated from the Council of the Southern Mountains simultaneously. Staff offices were moved at that time from Berea to Bristol, Tennessee.

Scope and Content

Materials include articles of incorporation of the Appalachian Volunteers; revised by-laws; a profile of organizational structure, purpose, and membership accompanying an Internal Revenue Service exemption application; and copies of audits (1965 - 1966).
