Scope and Content

U.S. Army nurse from Shelbyville, Ky. Papers include letters written Hansbrough to her family while she was stationed in the Philippines, and while traveling in Asia and Europe. She went first to the military hospital at Fort Mills, Corregidor, and soon transferred to Sternberg General Hospital in Manila. She was transferred to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C., Apr. 1927. The letters resume in 1931 and continue through 1935. Her letters describe Corregidor, Manila, and surrounding areas; the medical personnel; airmen and other acquaintances; her social life; hospital duties; racial attitudes; particularly toward Filipinos; and travels
