This collection contains early documents copied or attested to by Lee. Two of the documents concern actions of the state Senate in approving nominations made by Governor Isaac Shelby. The first is a letter written by Lee January 14, 1813 to the governor, giving Lee's opinion that the nomination of Samuel Hopkins for an unspecified position would be overwhelmingly rejected by the Senate, and advising the withdrawal of that nomination. The second is a note dated the same day as the letter stating the Senate approved the nomination of sheriff for Jefferson County and permitted nominations for Field Officer and Secretary of State to be withdrawn.The third and last item is an undated copy of an act providing for the removal of the Seat of Justice for Campbell County from Newport. A note at the bottom states Lee wrote out the copy of the act.
