Biography/History

Governor Joseph Desha served in office from 1824-1828 as a Jeffersonian Republican. Originally from Pennsylvania, Desha resided in Mason county. His occupations were as a Farmer and Soldier. Joseph Desha was elected on a pro-relief platform, and actively supported creation of the New Court. The Old Court/New Court controversy dominated his administration.
