Page Four The Ballard Weekly April 5, 2012 Community News Obitituaries Bill Warren Cordell Bill Warren Cordell, 42, of Gage passed away at 7:56 a.m. Friday at Lourdes Hospital. Mr. Cordell worked in construction for Kinsey Construction in Ballard County. He was survived by his wife Barbara Crawford Cordell; four daughters Ashley Cordell of Bardwell, Autum Cordell of Gage, Ashley Hardy of Oklahoma City, OK, and Jamie Thurston of Kingsport, TN; one son Tyler Cordell of Gage; his mother Maxine Mefford Watson of Bardwell; one sister Sarah Krone of Kevil; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The greatest man we’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. He touched so many people in a positive way during his life. We remember the morning after his death was foggy and misty and remember thinking as the mist dripped down the rocks that it looked like the earth was weeping. We thought the earth should be sad to lose such a valuable soul. A soul that taught us all how to love a and a heart that never ceased to stop giving. He was a wonderful person and an even greater dad. He will be missed dearly. Mr. Cordell was preceded in death by his father Billy Ray Cordell, and one brother. Visitation was held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Wickliffe. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Frankie Carter Frankie Carter, 71, of La Center died at 4:25 p.m. Thursday at Lourdes hospital. He owned and operated Frank’s Hardware in La Center for five years and Multi-Line Hardware in La Center for three years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and Antioch Masonic Lodge 632. He was an Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Peggy Carter; his mother, Meldrea Grable of La Center; a son, Gary Carter of La Center, one daughter, Susan Cate of Jonestown, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Carter, and two brothers. Graveside services were held Monday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Hicks officiating. Masonic Rites were held Saturday at Morrow Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be sent to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Thomas Brooking, 1425 Brooking Road, Kevil, KY 42053. Paul Lane Paul Lane, 76, of Tequesta, formerly of Ballard County, Ky., died Thursday at Jupiter Medical Center. He retired from the Kentucky State Police in 1988 with 25 years of service as a state trooper and later as a detective. Survivors include his wife, Judith Lane; two daughters; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements were incomplete at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home in Jupiter. The family suggests memorials go to Trooper Island. Saturday April 28, 2012 — Woods Walk and Scout Day at Wickliffe Mounds — Scouts of all ages, boys and girls, can experience the archaeological museum exhibits, mounds, and walking trail. Johnson Sr. ‘CJ’, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, of Kevil, KY went to join his son, Eugene Johnson Jr. at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Lourdes Hospital. Mr. Johnson was of the Baptist faith, a retired truck driver for Publix Super Market in Lakeland, FL, for 34 years. He was also an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and loved NASCAR and football. CJ is survived by his wife, Betty L. Smith Johnson; daughter, Tina M. Waid of Paducah; son, Josh D. Johnson of Kevil; two grandchildren, Jacob Waid and Trinity Peterson-Johnson; mother, Voncile Timmerman Johnson Gilbert of Lakeland, FL; sister, Barbara Tomlinson and husband James of Seffner, FL; sister in law, Henrietta Smith Ross of Paducah; brother in law, Buck Skipper of Yulee, FL; Aunt, Jean Starling and husband Roger of Chiefland, FL; niece, Stacy Skipper of Yulee, FL; nephews Jay Skipper of Troutman, N.C., David Skipper of Yulee, FL, Chuckie Tomlinson of Anaconda, AR. and Leslie Tomlinson of Butte, MT; very special cousins, Bobby and Jack Brady of FL. He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Johnson Jr., sister, Wanda Jerri Skipper and father, Clarence Murphy Johnson. A graveside service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in LaCenter, KY with Wade Buchanan officiating. Milner and Orr Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Jonathon Edward Cagle Services for Jonathon Edward Cagle, 22, of Mayfield were held Monday at Beulah Baptist Church with the Revs. Ian Carrico, Marshall Ivie and Wayne Rambo officiating. Burial followed in Beulah Cemetery. Mr. Cagle died at 8:40 a.m. Thursday at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He was employed as a cook at Grace Restaurant in Dublin. He is survived by one son, Eli Cagle of Paducah; his mother and stepfather, Jennifer and Cary Rutherford of Boaz; his father, Alan Webster of Fancy Farm; three brothers, Hunter Rutherford of Boaz, Trey Webster and Chase Webster, both of Fancy Farm; two sisters, Haley Rutherford and Jadyn Rutherford, both of Boaz; his grandparents, Bobby and Rita Sams of Mayfield, Judy and Frank McClure of Mayfield, and David and Betty Rutherford of Paducah; his great-grandparents, Frankie and Joyce Marshall of Mayfield and Betty Dodge of Bardwell.
