ca. 30,000 photographs, 3 linear ft.
Billy Davis, photojournalist and director of photography for the Louisville Courier-Journal and Louisville Times newspapers, specialized in aerial photography. Davis was an award-winning and widely published photographer. His low-level aerial views continue to be used by planners, attorneys, and as documentation for environmental site studies. They document industrial sites, interstate, highway construction, downtown Louisville growth, floods in eastern Kentucky, and a variety of other subjects. Billy Davis III recently has donated thousands of his father's photographs, correspondence and papers, along with a group of over 400 of his own photographs dating from 1971 to 1992.
