Biography/History

Soldier. Jones, a sergeant, was attached to U.S. Base Hospital Unit 40 (the "Barrow Unit"), which was stationed in England in 1918 and 1919.

Scope and Content

This is a collection of letters, written mainly from England, by medical corpsman Edward Stewart Jones to his parents living near Lexington, Ky. Some letters were sent from U.S. camps before and after the unit went overseas. They give a detailed description of Jones' experiences as a medical corpsman.
