A picture of the Whitefield Stump, with President Patterson's house in the background. The Whitefield Stump was discovered in a Harlan, Kentucky mine in 1938 and was given to the UK Geology Department by George Whitefield, former manager of Clover Fork Coal Company, in 1960.
