Biography/History

During the heyday of radio, WHAS produced live performances of music in its Louisville studios for broadcast throughout the southeastern United States.

Scope and Content

This collection consists of originals and adaptations of songs and small combo arrangements from the 1920s through 1950s performed by musicians during the broadcasts. Index cards in a large filing cabinet acquired from WHAS serves as the finding aid and is indexed by titles, composers, and subjects. The collection provides extensive documentation and unique access to radio and popular music from this era.
