Officer in the 17th Kentucky Infantry Regiment later merged with the 25th Kentucky Infantry Regiment. Letters, dated April 1863 - October 1864, by Pruitt, a Union soldier with the 17th and 25th Kentucky Infantry Regiments, describe his views on the justice of the cause, the conduct of the war, his commanding officers, and politics. Includes letter transcripts, muster roll photocopies, a pension application, a marriage certificate and Pension Agency papers. Card file in repository
