Step up to the Big One and step out in style! THE PLATFORM OF CHRIST'S CHURCH In seeking an objective men sometimes state the platform on which that objective is sought. Our objective at this time is not a setting forth of the "creed" of the church, for the Church of Christ has no creed tout Christ, no article of faith except Christ, no church manual except .the Bible, no confession of faith but that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God Instead, it is a setting forth of .the platform upon which, the church stands and upon which it comes before the world. I shall state briefly this plat form as of five planks, which I believe comprehends the platform upon which .the apostles stood in years gone by. I will split plank one in. aibout half ibecause it would take up too much space to print it. LETCHER Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blair of 'Letcher, wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Ernestine, to Mr. Charles R. Copeland, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Copeland, Sr., of Swedes-borNew Jersey. Miss Blair is employed by the FBI Department in Washington, D. C. She is a graduate of Stuart Robinson High There's a new baby girl, Sanda Diana, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dixon. The twins, Mickey and. Mikey, are very proud of their sister and very excited. This community had a very Christmas quiet, peaceful holiday. The young people went caroling and sung beautiful songs to most every home in every direction. Most every home had a cheerful word and gave them treats. Church services were held at Little Ruby Christmas evening. It was a very sweet service be cause it was such a good time to 'tell the Christmas story. will be "Youth Week" in the nation's Protestant churches, with emphasis on fellowship. The United Christian Youth Movement expresses it as "One Fellowship in Christ," and the International Society of Christian Endeavor as "Christ Our Lord, Men Our Brother." "Books instead of Bombs" will be a major project of hundreds of Christian youth councils throughout the nation during the observance. Recognizing the almost unbe lievable shortage of books that exists in Asia and Africa in particular, UCYM is calling on youth to unite in collecting books "to meet the cry of needy people of other lands for truth, knowledge, and the Word of God." UCYM is sponsored by the Youth Department of the National Council of Churches. o, Misses Eunice and Inas Bowling spent Christmas with their sisters in Dayton, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Campbell and Pat, spent Christmas day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Campbell at Haz ard. Mrs. John Caudill was in Lexington hospital during the holidays. She had a serious operation on her neck. She is back home doing very welL Bennett Combs, and Harold Mullis were home from the army for Christmas.
